This A5 size hardcover journal was created using handmade elephant dung paper - Yes I said elephant dung!
This beautiful ecofriendly paper is made from 80% elephant dung and 20% rice paddy stubble / post-consumer waste paper.
The basic journals are bound in Sri Lanka, where the elephant dung paper is made, by a company that is both environmentally and socially responsible.
I design and create the covers in my home studio here in Queensland.
The journal contains approx. 40 blank pages of creamy-white handmade elephant dung paper.
The front cover has been decorated with various handmade papers and second-hand buttons. Stitching is done with 100% cotton thread.
The company which makes the elephant dung paper donates a share of its profits to the Millennium Elephant Foundation, which is affiliated with the WSPCA and runs an elephant sanctuary in Kegalle, Sri Lanka, so by purchasing this item, you are not only supporting the environment, but also helping to secure the future for Sri Lanka's magnificent elephants.
These journals make great gifts. Use one as an everyday diary, record your dreams, take it on your next travel adventure, or use it as a sketch / ideas book. The possibilities are endless!
Please note: due to strict quarantine regulations I am unable to ship this item to New Zealand.
I have other journals in different colours and designs for sale, as well as many more eco-friendly paper products, so please check out the other items in my madeit store
Please note this item is made to order. There may be differences between the one you receive and the one pictured here, as no two pieces of handmade paper are exactly the same and I use whatever suitable buttons I have at the time. But please be assured that any differences will be small, and the overall deisgn, colour and quaity will be the same.
I also do custom work, so if you would like more than one of a particular item, or something in a specific colour, please just send me a message and I'll do my best to create something special just for you.
