100g skein of hand-dyed Merino 8ply yarn.
Meadow Merino is grown, spun and hand dyed in Australia.
It is not a superwash yarn so it's excellent for colourwork and can be used for felting. Gentle hand wash only using a dedicated wool wash liquid.
The feel of this yarn is wonderfully soft and squishy. It's quite fat for an 8ply/DK weight yarn and it can be used as a light worsted weight.
Using 4mm needles, the tension is 22 stitches x 30 rows and forms a nice, dense fabric. Using 4.5mm needles creates a fabric with a little more drape but is still quite substantial with a tension of 20 stitches x 26 rows.
Tension after washing barely changes after washing as untreated yarns don't stretch the way superwash yarns can.
US knitters should note that "8ply" refers to weight rather than construction. It doesn't actually have 8 plys - in Australia 8ply means similar to "DK". Pool is a variegated colourway that combines various bold greens and blues. Each skein is 100grams (3.5 ounces) and 200 metres (218 yards).
