Little Star Clothing is a my beautiful creation. My name is Haroula and I am a mum of 2 beautiful little girls. I work from home and this is my full time business. My clothes are proudly made by myself with a lot of hard work and love.
I am a dressmaker with certificates in dressmaking, pattern cutting and design. I have been sewing my whole life and LOVE IT!!
ABOUT LITTLE STAR CLOTHING]
Kids are kids. Before I start talking about all these cute colourful skirts and dresses keep in mind that children’s clothing should first of all be convenient and allow kids to move, jump, run and play comfortably.
I started making clothes for my little girls because I wanted stylish, modest clothes that were made from organic fabrics and also accommodate for my daughter's skin conditions and constant heat rashes. I then started to make boys clothing using fun, bright colours and trendy styling.
[FABRIC SELECTION]
A lot of kids are sensitive to synthetic materials because these materials might not “breathe” well, cause itchiness or other discomfort. In some cases, certain fabrics may cause allergic skin reactions, so it is important to consider any fabric’s nature before buying children’s clothing.
I use only the finest quality natural fabrics - linens and high grade cottons (with the exception of some coats, although they are completely lined in cotton). This ensures that children with hypersensitivity issues allows their skin to breathe and stay cool.
My fabric selection is based on seasons really. I simply select a fabric and imagine what is the best thing to create and make it!
For example, my boy's tunic shirt is made from lightweight high grade cotton, which will keep him cool and comfortable in searing heat but will allow sun protection also.
[COLOUR COMBINATIONS]
I really try hard to have a vast variety of colours and fabrics available, and am continuously adding new items - a work in progress!
This is a great guide in which I incorporate:
Option 1: Simple and classy - blue, white, grey, black, jeans
Option 2: Mix bright colours with traditional - pink, blue, yellow green with tones of browns and blues
Option 3: Crazy colour - whatever they wish, it works great for kids.
[SEWING PROCESS]
Firstly let me state that:
"I believe in quality, not quantity".
My handmade items are made with care, ensuring that each item is personally inspected for quality.
Great care is taken to ensure that it fits well and this has been tried and tested - durability, ease of movement, washing, ironing, drying and staining.
I do not overlock (serge) any of my garments. Every garment is made with a plain machine. The seams are professionally finished by either a french seam or close zig zag stitch. This does take much longer to make an item, but as I said previously, I believe in quality - not quantity.
I create modest, trendy and most importantly COMFORTABLE clothing made from natural fabrics like cotton and linen. So rest assured, your little one will love them!
