About my work; I attained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1998, completing studies in Graphic Design, Photography and Sculpture, however found with time that my interests also extended to metalsmithing and jewellery making.
I primarily work in Sterling Silver (100% recycled) and love utilising high quality freshwater pearls, semi precious gemstones and rare vintage beads that I source both locally and internationally. Much of my work features traditional metalsmithing techniques.
I draw inspiration from nature, travel, culture and various art movements, always keeping and eye on current trends and fashion. I have a penchant for all thing French and particulary love creating both dreamy pieces with a touch of whimsy and classic, modern jewellery.
Reducing my environmental footprint is important to me. As such the Sterling Silver used in my work is reclaimed (100%recycled) and sourced from a reputable Australian company with sound environmental policies and practices. The creation of my pieces feature age old metalsmithing techniques and where possible I primarily use hand tools to cut, shape, file and sand.
Growing up, creativity and artistic pursuits were very much encouraged in my family. Both my grandmother and grandfather were very skilled crafts people, making a living from art. My mum is an accomplished painter who sells her works and also teaches art. Like these special people I too hope to share my artistic creations for the enjoyment of others.
Art provides me with much joy and fulfilment.
