For thousands of years, the ocean has been held in awe, fear and mystery; and every country has its share of maritime folk stories and legends. There are no more superstitious folk than sailors - and for good reason, the sea does not suffer fools and shows no mercy.
The ocean is indeed a mysterious place full of power and energy and many believe that this power and energy is absorbed by all that dwells in its murky depths.
Glass has long been held in a similar vein as crystals, which many believe to hold healing powers and life energies. With the power and energy absorbed from the ocean, seaglass is therefore mystically more intense than land crystals.
Seaglass is glass that has found its way into the ocean through various human means and as a result of the natural forces of wave, tide, current and time, it has been tumbled against rocks and sand changing its character from the sharp, clear glass we are used to into smooth, frosted glass.
Ocean-spirits has managed to collect many samples of seaglass from the sand on the beach and from many metres below on the seafloor. Each piece has then been examined, cleaned and painstakingly hand fashioned into beautiful and rare pieces of jewellery.
As each piece is left in its original shape, no two pieces can ever be the same and as such, each piece is unique, varying in size, shape, colour and weight.
Each piece has genuinely come from the ocean depths and only altered if need be by smoothing sharp edges, otherwise all pieces are just as Nature herself made them.
We do not buy "seaglass" as we could not verify that it was truly from the ocean. All seaglass used in our pieces have been hand collected by ourselves.
