Hello & Welcome to Nittens and Patches.
My name is Mignon & I live on the Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia. I am married with a son Tim & a fur-kid Georgie - aka Feathers -our Devon Rex cat.
The Devon in my profile picture is Davie, our '2nd hand cat' who we rescued from the animal welfare on the Gold Coast. He was a Queensland kitty & never really liked the cold weather here after we moved. He was a gentleman who loved cuddles; unlike Georgie who is like a mischievous 3 year old. Davie unfortunately left us earlier this year for the big kitty litter box in the sky.
Stuffed toys & teddies were my favourite toys growing up. They have never really lost there appeal. So making them is a good excuse to still have plenty of softies around the house.
I have been knitting & sewing for as long as I can remember & I have recently started knitting & sewing toys & gifts which I am really enjoying. I also make cards which I will add to my shop a bit later this year.
The name for my store came in two parts. First I started knitting toys. Tim came up with the name 'Nittens' which I really loved. It's a play on the words knitting & kitten. Originally Davie was going to be my mascot, but now Georgie has filled that spot. After a little while I found some sewing pattern that I really loved, so I added them to my collection & my mum came up with the idea of adding 'Patches'.
In our home we love cats & dogs equally. They are part of the family - our 'fur-kids'. We don't currently have a dog is because we are renting, but when we get back into our own home there will definitely be getting a 'Patches'.
NITTENS & PATCHES softies are made in a smoke free home.
