Hi there, my name is Gai Opresnik and I am the person behind Rhasdala.
People often ask me where the name 'Rhasdala' came from. The answer is it's made up from the first two letters of each of my four kids names. I guess in a way Rhasdala is like another child - it requires alot of time, hard work, attention and love, and rewards me with exciting discoveries, lots of lessons learned, wonderful triumphs and a regular bout of the warm fuzzies.
It all started with a love for good quality handmade soap. I soon found recipes online and wanted to learn more about making it for myself. Alot of research, practice, more research, trial and error, even more research, some failures and some successes, and Rhasdala was born.
I soon found myself making other bath and body products and I became interested in what could and could not be achieved with natural ingredients. I was amazed at what companies would put into their products just to save a dollar! Now I'm on a mission to formulate and produce skin care products using natural ingredients that give results comparable to cosmeceuticals.
Through all this I have been resisting the urge to delve into the world of mineral makeup. I have always loved makeup but have extremely oily skin and traditional cosmetics caused all sorts of problems. I have been using mineral makeup for a few years and love it, so I knew the benefits. The problem was the endless possibilities of the makeup was a little overwhelming, so I was hesitant to dive in. Now I wish I had started making mineral makeup sooner! It's endlessly exciting and I absolutely LOVE it!
All products are handmade by me, using quality ingredients in a smoke-free environment. They are tested by myself, my family and friends, then tweaked and retested until they are GREAT. I won't sell a product I don't love and use myself.
