Hello. My name is Suzie and here is a brief story behind Minky Minx....
Inspired by my grandmother's work as a seamstress for the theatre during the 1930's and 40's, I began creating at an early age and this eventually lead to my studying Studio Textiles - Design & Production at RMIT about 10 years ago.
Since then my love of all things vintage and retro has grown along with my knowledge of textiles and design in its various forms, as well my passion to create. After ‘testing the market’ for several years, Minky Minx was officially launched in 2006, and this lead to many exciting developments, including being invited to sell my creations through new avenues.
Although experiencing many changes over the years, one thing remains the same – our aim. Minky Minx Design Studio still aims to offer unique, quality handcrafted ‘useable art’ pieces inspired by old world charm of yesterday with all the colour and freedom of expression of today. The simple joy of creating something by hand in a non-production line fashion takes me back to the days when virtually everything was handcrafted with care.
