Hello there :)
If you have hit the link to this page then you probably want to know something about me...
After having my first baby in January I was introduced to the world of maternity leave! A teacher in my life before my little poppet arrived, I am used to being busy, and as the hours ticked by I needed something to do. I never really thought I was that crafty, but my mum and her mum are so I guess it is in my genes there somewhere. I was always the sporty one - out running around and getting into anything I could. Having a newborn meant that was not really possible so I dusted off the machine and got started.
I had found it in the cupboard and used it a couple of times while I was pregnant so I could make some skirts to wear as the ones I found to buy were not really what I wanted - now when I look back I guess I knew there was something in me that was ready to sew!
One of my first creations was a breastfeeding cover. I was given one as a baby shower present so I decided to make another one in a different fabric, while making some changes to the design. Notably I increased the length and strength of the boning so the bit stuck out like it should and I could see my little one..
Having a girl, of course I wanted to make a dress for her, and then I just started making things that would be useful as a mum. Not sure what will happen from here, but by the look of the stash of material I now have I guess I will be sewing for some time yet!!
Cheers, Ali
