Description
A sprinkling of bright colours enlivens the otherwise conservative blues & greys of this Brioche Stitch cowl / ring scarf - just the thing to keep your neck warm.
Ring scarves / cowls are great - you pop them over your head and they cannot fall off. This one is 70cm around by a snuggly 17cm wide - lovingly knitted to my own design and pattern in Brioche stitch. Brioche knitting uses 2 yarns and when those yarns are different colours you get 2 versions from the 2 sides - for this cowl one side has the grey dominant - the other side has the hand-spun blue-grey and sprinkles yarn dominant. The double yarn makes Brioche knits doubly warm, yet very squishy and soft. This Cowl scarf is totally unique.
One of the 2 yarns is a commercial - machine made yarn the other is hand-spun (by me). The commercial yarn is the charcoal grey - it is 100% wool.
The blue, grey and sprinkled yarn is hand spun from a blend of luxury fibres - Merino, Alpaca, Cashmere and Angora.
If you are looking for items that are Made by Hand - honouring the ideals of Slow Fashion - you've come to the right place. My hand-knits from yarn I've hand-spun are Extremely Hand Made.
The hand-spun yarn has gone through my hands 7 times ... 7 processes by hand. The fibre has also been processed by Hand before it comes to me. I buy my fibre from an Independent Fibre Artist whose studio is in the Yarra Valley - she:
Processes, Dyes, Cards, Blends the fibre ... all by Hand.
Then when I get my hands on that lovely fibre I:
Spin it (on a Majacraft spinning wheel)
Ply it (on that spinning wheel)
Skein it
Set it
Wind it into a ball
Then I Knit it and finally
Block it (a washing process - so it is beautiful and clean for you).
That's a lot of Hand Made ...
