"Birch Grove" is a beautiful scarf, handwoven from a luxurious blend of Merino, Silk and Baby Alpaca yarns. This scarf measures 193 cm x 18 cm (86" x 7") including fringe. The weft thread is a blend of extra soft 70% Australian & NZ Superfine Merino & 30% Silk that has been hand dyed in a subtle combination of verdant greens alongside light whispers of earthy browns all on an off-white natural base. The warp thread is an off-white baby alpaca yarn so soft it rivals Cashmere. This is a lightweight and delicate garment that would add a touch of elegance to any outfit. The superfine Australian and NZ merino wool makes this yarn luxuriously soft for next to skin comfort.
The main factor determining the quality of Australian and NZ merino wool is its softness which depends upon the fineness of the fibres. The use of superfine merino which is some of the finest commercially available results in a beautifully soft yarn that feels gentle against the skin. Baby Alpaca wool is also a highly sought after fibre that is very soft, warm and durable as well as being naturally water resistant, making it a softer, warmer alternative to sheep's wool.
Please note, as this is a handmade garment consisting of natural fibres, please take care when washing. Gentle hand washing with a good quality wool wash is recommended. Dry flat and NO NOT tumble dry.
